Parish News Page, other than that on the Bulletin
This page is for longer-term items, fundraising efforts, pictures from pilgrimages, prayer group information and community notices. Please speak to Rachel Parker if you would like something included on this page.
This area of the site is intended to be easy to read on phones, tablets and desktops. The parish Facebook feed is now in a dedicated panel so it is more visible on larger screens.

A Prayer for our young people taking their SATS, GCSEs and A-Levels this Summer
Dear Lord,
As I take this exam, I thank you that my value is not based on my performance, but on your great love for me. Come into my heart so that we can walk through this time together. Help me, not only with this test, but the many tests of life that are sure to come my way.
As I take this exam, bring back to my mind everything I studied and be gracious with what I have overlooked. Help me to remain focussed and calm, confident in the facts and in my ability, and firm in the knowledge that no matter what happens today you are there with me.
Amen.
Please remember our young people taking exams in your prayers over the coming weeks.
Saying Goodbye to Our Lady Star of the Sea, Horden

A helpful hand for families in need
We’ve just found out about a new School Essentials grant scheme for residents of East Durham who are on a low income and struggling with the cost of school uniform.
The scheme provides a £100 grant per school aged child in the form of a supermarket or high-street voucher, with an option to add a £30 winter coat voucher for each child.
If you are in a household with school-age children and experiencing substantial financial hardship, please speak to one of the listed local agencies about a referral to East Durham Trust.
Welcome Bishop Stephen Wright
Bishop Stephen Wright was installed as the fifteenth Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle at a Solemn Mass of Installation in the Cathedral Church of St Mary, Newcastle.
